Best Resend alternatives in 2026

Resend has a clean developer API, but marketing contacts sit on a second plan billed by contacts, and free sending stops at 100 emails a day. For teams that send both kinds of email, the best Resend alternative is Unitpost: one plan for both, unlimited contacts on paid plans, and an importer that reads a Resend key. Postmark leads on deliverability and Brevo on free volume.

Updated November 2, 2026. We make Unitpost, and it is on this list. Every score has a reason and the weights are published below, so you can re-rank it for your own needs. How we scored

Why teams look for a Resend alternative

  • Marketing contacts are a second plan, priced by contacts: $40 a month for 5,000.
  • Free sending is capped at 100 emails a day.
  • There is no SMS, so texts need a second provider and a second bill.

When Resend is still the better choice

  • You need an Elixir SDK (we ship Node, Python, Ruby, PHP, Laravel, Go, Java, Rust, and .NET)
  • You only ever send transactional email and want the most battle-tested option in that lane
  • You want the largest community and the most third-party tutorials to lean on

What moves when you leave Resend

With Unitpost's Migration Assistant and one Resend key:

  • Contacts: partly imports. Every contact from Resend's GET /contacts imports with first and last name. Custom contact properties are not read, and contacts already in your workspace are skipped unless you choose Update in the preview.
  • Unsubscribes and consent: imports. A contact Resend marks unsubscribed imports unsubscribed. Here that stops campaigns and other marketing sends; transactional sends still reach the address.
  • Suppressions (bounces and complaints): rebuild. Not imported. Resend now lists its suppressions at GET /suppressions, but the importer does not call it, so step 1 copies them.
  • Segments: imports. Each audience becomes a static segment with its members. The importer reads Resend's Audiences API, which Resend deprecated when audiences became segments, so compare the preview count with your Segments page.
  • Topics: partly imports. Topics are recreated with their default. Per-contact choices are not read, so a contact who opted out of an opt_in topic in Resend counts as subscribed to it here until step 3.
  • Templates: partly imports. Subject, HTML and text import as draft code-mode templates in the marketing category. Resend's {{{VARIABLE}}} placeholders are not converted, and the preview does not flag them for Resend.
  • Sending domains: partly imports. Each domain is recreated as verifying with a new DKIM key and new DNS records. Resend's open and click tracking settings carry over to the new domain.
  • Webhooks: partly imports. Endpoints are recreated switched off with a new signing secret. Events both products share keep their names; contact.topics.updated, suppression.*, topic.* and inbox.* are dropped and listed in the preview.
  • API keys: rebuild. Keys are stored hashed on both sides and cannot be read. Create new keys in Unitpost.
  • Scheduled broadcasts: rebuild. Broadcasts are not read. Recreate upcoming ones as campaigns on a segment.
  • Receiving: rebuild. Inbound settings are not read. Turn receiving on for the verified domain here and point its MX record at Unitpost.

How we scored

This list is for teams sending app email through Resend who are weighing a switch. What matters to them: a free or cheap way to keep sending, a modern API, marketing email in the same place, and a move that keeps suppressions.

  • Free plan (20%). A permanent free plan large enough to run a small app on, with no card.
  • Developer experience (20%). A clear REST API, current SDKs, readable errors and docs.
  • Transactional + marketing (20%). Both kinds of email in one product, on one contact list and one bill.
  • Switching (15%). An importer, or a documented path, that moves Resend contacts, suppressions and templates.
  • Deliverability (15%). A long public record of inbox placement, and the tooling to protect it.
  • Scale (10%). Proven at very high volume, with dedicated IPs and enterprise plans.

Each product gets 1 to 5 per criterion, from its own pricing and docs pages. The total is the weighted mean, so changing a weight re-ranks the list.

Frequently asked questions

Does Resend have a free plan?

Yes: 3,000 emails a month, capped at 100 a day, plus 1,000 marketing contacts. Unitpost's free plan is 5,000 emails a month at 200 a day, with campaigns and inbound included.

How do I move off Resend?

Copy suppressions first, so nobody who bounced or complained gets mail from the new provider. Unitpost's Migration Assistant imports unsubscribes and consent, segments with one Resend key, and the migration plan lists what you rebuild by hand.
